What He Values Most

How many times have you stood in front of a mirror and not liked what you've seen? Maybe you wished you had a different nose. Maybe you look like you got punched in the face one to many times (I took a straight right to the nose when I was 15, never been the same since). Perhaps you wished your eyes weren't so close together (or far apart). What about your hair? Have you ever looked in the mirror and said, "I wish I had better hair" (or "I wish I had hair")? Maybe your like me and you've looked in the mirror, poked the extra fat around your mid-section and said, "Really wish that wasn't there."

It might not be something cosmetic. Maybe your left leg is a little longer than your right and it looks like you have a limp that never goes away. Maybe when you sing it shatters glass (and ear drum).  Maybe you're extremely clumsy and when you run, you look like a baby giraffe that was just born.  Maybe you're not the smartest person the wo…

A Flawed Memory of Yesterday

I've been reading Ecclesiastes lately. While the vast majority of this book is full of depth, one verse of Solomon's particularly jumped out at me today, 7:10... "Do not say, 'Why were the old days better than these?' For it is not wise to ask such questions."

I think that many of us live too much in the past. Why can't things be the way they were? Why did everything have to change? Solomon's word's are direct and to the point... "not a good idea." Why not? I always answer that by saying "were they really better, or do you just remember them as better?"

I have a horrible memory. With the exception to song lyrics and movie quotes (especially Will Ferrell quotes). Other than that, I'm in big trouble. I'm 35 years old and I already have a horrible memory. You know your memory is going when you have to be introduced to the same person 4 or 5 times and you know a 6th introduction is inevitable.
